In-Depth ROT Analysis

My Approach

To ensure the client reached their objective of cutting 60 - 90% of their content while maintaining the content that benefits users most, I designed a ROT analysis that went beyond finding redundant, out-of-date, and trivial content. I developed and aligned with the client on 17 unique measures that would:

  • Make ROT determinations more objective,

  • Evaluate accessibility and overall usability, and

  • Assess content quality, including use of plain language.

Not only was I able to use the data collected to recommend a content reduction of 74%, I also provided the client with data-based insights like which page types perform best for their audiences, and how to reduce unnecessary depth in their information architecture.
